C24.BBX

C24.BBX is a compact CANbus real-time data recorder (black-box) for mobile machinery and vehicles. It stores machine data, events and alarm records from the CAN network with date/time stamps. Designed to provide evidence for fault analysis, retrospective safety event review and warranty workflows.

Key Specifications

  • CANbus real-time data logging (black-box)
  • CANopen and SAE J1939 traffic monitoring and recording
  • Event, alarm and fault code logger
  • Date/time stamped records
  • Compact C24 form factor
  • Field durability for mobile machine and vehicle applications
  • CAN integration with Avioni ECU and HMI ecosystem
  • Configuration and data transfer via Javelin Suite
  • CE and EMC compliant

Technical Details

C24.BBX is the CANbus data logging solution in the Avioni C24 product family. Unlike the C24.XOUT programmable ECU or the C24.AERO I/O-equipped AERO module, the primary role of C24.BBX is real-time recording of data on the CAN network. It serves as a black-box on mobile cranes, aerial platforms, construction machinery, fire trucks and special-purpose vehicles.

Real-Time Recording

C24.BBX records data flowing on the CANbus in real time during operation. Limit exceedances, safety alarms, fault codes, operator actions and machine status messages are stored with date/time stamps. These records provide objective evidence for root cause analysis of field faults, retrospective review of safety events and customer/warranty workflows.

CANbus Monitoring

C24.BBX monitors and records CAN traffic supporting CANopen and SAE J1939 protocols. Data from Avioni ECUs, sensor modules, HMI displays and third-party CAN devices can be collected on the same network. Recording filters and triggers can be configured per project; either critical events only or continuous bus traffic can be logged.

System Integration

C24.BBX is a complementary component in the Avioni control ecosystem. Used together with C24.XOUT, C48, C72 and AVD HMIs, it forms an independent recording layer on the machine. Even if an ECU or display fails, raw CAN bus data recording can continue, providing valuable diagnostic information in complex fault scenarios.

Javelin Suite Integration

C24.BBX is configured and commissioned with Avioni Javelin Suite engineering software. The following operations can be performed via Javelin Suite:

• Setup of recording parameters, filters and triggers
• Reading and exporting recorded data
• Live CAN data monitoring
• Firmware update and field configuration
• Project file management

UCAN-USB or UCAN-BT adapters provide access in workshop and field environments.

Position in the C24 Family

C24.XOUT (8+8) is the compact programmable control ECU. C24.BBX is positioned as a real-time CAN recorder (black-box) focused on logging and event archiving rather than control. C24.AERO (2× CAN + I/O) combines logging and I/O for aerial work platforms. Together, the three products form a modular C24 platform family covering control, recording and platform-specific needs.

Typical Applications

• Event logging on mobile cranes and aerial platforms
• LMI limit exceedance and safety alarm archiving
• Field fault analysis and root cause investigation
• Evidence logging for warranty and insurance workflows
• CAN data collection during prototype test and validation
• Fleet-wide machine usage and fault statistics
