Technical Details

JAV12 is a fingertip industrial joystick in the Avioni operator control product family. It is designed for precise, ergonomic control of boom, slew, drive or auxiliary functions in aerial platforms, mobile cranes, construction machinery, fire trucks and similar applications. Its compact form factor allows easy integration into operator cabs or remote control consoles where space is limited.

Hall Effect Sensing

JAV12 uses contactless Hall effect sensor technology. Magnetic position sensing instead of mechanical potentiometers or wear-prone contacts delivers long service life and repeatable signal output. Stable proportional control performance is maintained even under dust, vibration and frequent use, reducing maintenance needs and failure risk.

Proportional Control and Ergonomics

The joystick operates on proportional control principles: lever deflection allows gradual adjustment of parameters such as actuator speed or hydraulic proportional valve opening. The grip is optimized for comfortable fingertip operation, reducing operator fatigue. A spring return-to-center mechanism ensures safe return to neutral when released.

Output and Communication Options

JAV12 can be configured for analog voltage output or digital CANbus communication (CANopen) according to project requirements. Analog versions can connect directly to Avioni ECU analog input channels. CANopen versions integrate into CAN-based multiplex architectures with ECUs, HMIs and other network nodes, reducing wiring complexity.

System Integration

JAV12 is a natural part of the Avioni control ecosystem. It is used in operator panel designs together with C24, C48 and higher-series ECUs, with Avioni HMI displays and in CANopen-based machine architectures. During system commissioning, joystick parameters, ECU mapping and functional tests can be performed over the CAN network via Javelin Suite and UCAN adapters.

Typical Applications

• Boom and turret control on aerial work platforms (MEWP)
• Operator controls on mobile cranes and telehandlers
• Machine and special-purpose vehicle panels
• Remote control and belly-box consoles
• Prototype and series production operator interfaces

JAV12 completes the operator side of Avioni’s “hardware + embedded software + field engineering” approach. Together with control units, displays and sensors, it forms an end-to-end machine control solution.
