Technical Details
UCAN-USB is a compact USB–CAN adapter designed to connect a PC or laptop to a CAN network. It provides fast, reliable bus access in engineering, test, production and service environments. Thanks to its small form factor and IP67 protected plastic enclosure, it is suitable both for fixed workshop setups and for mobile machinery and on-vehicle applications.
The device supports high-speed CAN communication compliant with ISO 11898-2. It is compatible with CAN 2.0A (11-bit) and CAN 2.0B (29-bit) identifier formats. Bit rate is configurable from 5 kbit/s to 1 Mbit/s. Approximate 42 µs timestamp resolution provides accurate timing information for CAN traffic analysis and debugging.
On the USB side, it operates in Full-Speed mode and is compatible with USB 1.1, USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports. On the CAN side, connection is provided by default via a 3-metre twin-wire cable; a 9-pin D-Sub connector option compliant with CiA® 106 is available on request. Optional 120 Ω bus termination and galvanic isolation on the CAN side can be configured as required.
An extended operating temperature range of -40 °C to +85 °C and IP67 dust and water protection are designed for reliable use in demanding industrial and field conditions.
Javelin Suite Integration
UCAN-USB works seamlessly with Avioni Javelin Suite engineering software. Javelin Suite is a comprehensive toolset for Windows and Linux, developed for communication with Avioni control systems and CAN-based equipment. Through a UCAN-USB connection, the following operations can be performed via Javelin Suite:
• Live monitoring, filtering and logging of CAN data
• Parameter read/write on ECUs and control units
• System calibration and functional testing
• Firmware upload and updates
• Querying fault codes, diagnostic information and device status
• Project file management and field configuration
When Javelin Suite and UCAN-USB are used together, full CAN bus access is available from the development desk or service workshop. Technical teams can run software development, validation and maintenance on Avioni ECUs and CAN-based products from a single software environment.
Typical Applications
• ECU and control unit software development and validation
• Production line test and calibration stations
• CAN diagnostic access during service and warranty workflows
• Parameter setup on prototype machines and vehicles
• CAN network integration and system commissioning
UCAN-USB is the wired connectivity solution in Avioni's UCAN product family. Together with UCAN-BT for wireless field scenarios, it forms a complete CAN engineering infrastructure from workshop to field.
